Welcome to the brand new website for our brand new parish. Thank you Ken Franzen, the parishioner who has spent lots of time setting up and developing this site. I think he’s done a great job. Additionally, Ken is the one who designed our logo – what a talent.
I hope you find this site helpful and maybe even inspiring. I’m sure it will continue to develop and expand over time. I’ve never done a blog before and pretty much avoid things like facebook and twitter, although I do have a facebook account. But I will do my best to add something every few days or so. If you have any questions or comments about my blog or the site, don’t hesitate to email me: firstname.lastname@example.org
This weekend, September 11/12, is a busy one here at Light of Christ. On Saturday the regional training for the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd begins at the Deerfield site. Sr. Nancy Ayotte is the director and teacher for the year long program. There are attendees from all over Southeast Michigan and I think a few from Ohio. They meet one full Saturday a month for 10 months and at the end are certified as teachers for the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd.
Also in Deerfield on Saturday morning we are having a mass for the migrant camps in our area at which there are scheduled numerous baptisms and first communions. The kids have been prepared throughout the summer and are looking for to this wonderful event. I’m sure there will lots of great Mexican food to follow.
In Blissfield, the K of C is hosting a Hobo Dinner at 5PM and everyone is invited. The K of C is a great organization in our parish and provides tremendous service in many ways but especially in providing food for the needy in our community – please come out and support them.
Finally, as we settle into our new identity as Light of Christ Parish, we’re asking everyone who attends mass this weekend to stop and check their registration form and update it. We’re especially interested in having email addresses.
Have a great weekend.
