Cpt. Philip L. Scheuerman, 69 years, of Petersburg, died Monday at Ebeid Hospice, Sylvania, Ohio.

Friends may call at the Capaul Funeral Home, Ida, Thursday, from 2-8 pm.  There will be a Rosary Service at 7pm Thursday.  He will lie in state at Light of Christ Catholic Church, Deerfield, Friday, July 13, from 10am until the Mass of Christian Burial, at 11am.  Fr. Jack Loughran will officiate.  Burial will be in St. Alphonsus Cemetery.

Born may 30, 1943, in Petersburg, Philip was the son of Harold and V. Alice (Pruden) Scheuerman.  He was a 1961 Summerfield High School graduate, and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Michigan State University.  Philip was married to Kitty Stout, July 28, 1973, in Lansing, MI.  He retired from the US Air Force after 22 years of service, during which he served as a Missile Operations Officer, a Missile Launch Officer, and a Special Investigations Officer.  After service, he was the CEO of the Monroe County Chapter, American Red Cross, for 15 years, and was a Licensed Agent for the McAran Insurance Agency in Petersburg.  Philip was a member of St. Alphonsus Church, Deerfield, where he was a lector and he and his wife sang in the choir, the Kiwanis Club of Monroe, the Lions Club of Petersburg and the American Legion Post 392, Deerfield.  He loved going fishing up north in Grand Marais.

Surviving are:  his wife, Kitty; daughters, Connie (Mike) Fahling, Lisa (Robert) LeVanseler, Cynthia (Mark) Morelli; brother, David (Joanne) Scheuerman; sisters, Mary Ann Scheuerman, Debra Chalfa; and grandchildren, Samantha, Mary, Thomas, Elizabeth, Julia, Brianna, Katie, and Dimitrion.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Marla M. Schultz.
